Halloween musings.

Halloween falling on a Sunday feels so weird. Weird because for some reason I expected this year's Halloween to be really hype and really festive. But we're still not out of the pandemic so I'm glad it's not super hype and festive from what I've seen. This year feels very wholesome. Good, safe fun with people at home. I'm mad at it at all.

Speaking of the pandemic, the mask mandate got lifted in Louisiana a couple of days ago. I, of course, still wear my mask because I don't trust people and I know there are people out here confidently lying about being vaccinated, so I'm taking no chances. Friday, I went to the mall and everybody I saw was wearing masks, including store workers so that was nice to see.

There is one upside to the mask mandate being lifted and people pretending that we're way past the pandemic though, and I'm not gonna lie I was surprisingly shocked when I saw it.

You can smell stuff at the perfume counters again!

I've been wanting some new perfumes for the winter and I didn't want to blind buy so I went to the mall for some decided sniffs. Last January when I did the same, the ladies behind the counter and at Sephora handled the bottles and handed me the blotter to sniff from 6 feet away. I was very prepared to have the same thing happen on Friday, but to my utter delight Sephora's wall of perfume was available to be sniffed at my leisure. All the perfume counters were wide open and available for me to sniff as well.

I was so happy!

I like options and smelling my options and then changing my mind on my options a few times before I do or don't decide, and during the pandemic I couldn't really option and decide like I wanted to so I had to really limit my sniffing experience. This past Friday, I sniffed to my heart's content and went nose blind in delight. I'm turning my (for now) modest perfume collection more niche but I've heard some really great things about some designer fragrances found at the counters and Sephora and wanted to sniff them for myself.

I ended buying Black Tulip by Nest and Voce Viva by Valentino at Sephora. Got a chance to smell some more fragrances to add to my Christmas list so I'm quite pleased.

We'll be talking more about perfumes because I want you all to know that you're soon be favorite storyteller is 1) very talented 2) smells very damn good.

Until next time!
