Pivoting Points

My initial draft of this post in my head was to have some flowery beginning talking about pivoting and new things and something else or another but I was so bored by the third line I just decided trash it and  get straight to the point on writing it on here.

I'm throwing away most of what I initially wanted for this blog and starting (mostly) over. Things are changing around here, y'all!

So as you all know, I'm a writer. And a lot of writers have websites and blogs that they write where they keep in touch with their supporters and have samples of their work and such. I thought that was a brilliant idea so I said, "I think I'll do the same." So I started the blog and had the samples up and ran into the issue of deciding how much of a sample to put up and how much to protect because copyright, people are thieves, etc.

So then I got the idea to go on YouTube. Cool.  And like most people starting a new idea or project, I went to YouTube to figure out how to be a good YouTuber. It was fun, learned a lot and by the way, you can watch those videos and subscribe to my channel HERE (yes that was a not so subtle shameless plug). But I also realized very quickly that I didn't want to teach screenwriting. A lot of advice for starting a channel was similar to learning how to write screenplays, which is to write what you know/start a channel about what you know.

I know a good bit about screenwriting because I do it quite often, but let's be real here: there are no rules to screenwriting except to format your pages correctly and check your spelling very, very often. The rest? Do what works for you.  I chose to start a channel on screenwriting because that was what I knew, but it wasn't keeping me consistent and excited to create content. And I like being on YouTube and creating content. And I like talking to y'all on this blog. I really do.

And so I've figured that the best way for me to do both is stop making the focus about writing and talk more abour me, who so happens to be a writer. What's life like for me living a regular ass life while chasing a very big, very not regular dream.

So I'll be sharing some tips and keep y'all updated on new methods of writing I'm trying and stuff but for sure, get ready to learn more about me because I'm much more fun and I think we'll have a much better time that way.
